In the meantime, I'll send my spare minutes learning how to use Aegisub properly. I really would like to be able to run 'aegisub' full natively.
I hope a savvy developer can find time to take a look a the ebuilds in the external 'multimedia' tree and give them the needed TLC. I haven't had the time and do not expect to have the time and resources to try virtualbox anytime soon. I'm not prepared at this time to regress my current kernel version to be able to run the proprietary radeon driver.
This means anything which makes use of graphics runs dead s l o w. However, I'm currently configured with the FOSS version of the Radeon driver.

I did install the windows version of aegisub under vmware workstation with a WinXP guest and it seemed to run there. YMMV and all that especially when it comes to advanced functions. Everything I've tried so far under 'wine' seems to work as expected. If you're using the KDE windows manager, the installed program will appear under Launch > Wine > Programs > Aegisub. # wine ~/drive_c/software/Aegisub-2.1.8-setup.exeįollow the dialog and uncheck whatever options you don't need.
